James D. Burg & Company PC is a Texas Professional Corporation comprised of a team of Certified Public Accountants. We pride ourselves on being a small firm, laid-back atmosphere with a big firm level of expertise and professionalism. When you deal with our office you will be getting advice directly from a CPA, not a tax practitioner or bookkeeper, and we are always reachable and willing to help. You will also be getting professional services from a team that works closely with each other to utilize the 75+ years of combined experience to tackle any situation that presents itself. Our CPAs have had experience working in and around businesses for many years before joining the firm and once here have had hands on experience from day one.

Meet Our Team:

James D. Burg, CPA is the President and founder of the firm and is a 1973 graduate of Midwestern State University. Upon graduation, James worked as a Controller in the steel industry for 10 years before opening his own CPA practice. He has worked since then in public practice and served many outside controllership positions with various clients in that time. James grew up here in the Spring Branch area but has now been a Katy resident for the last 35 years.

Terance A. Murnane, CPA graduated from the University of Houston in 1976 and spent 10 years in the private business and audit department at KPMG, an international accounting firm, serving most recently as a Senior Manager. In 1990 he joined a pharmaceutical company as their Controller and was later appointed as a corporate officer. Terance remained in this leadership position as they grew from 4 to over 100 employees and completed a public offering until they were later acquired by a larger public company. Terance has been a resident of the Houston area since 1973.

Darren A. Pearson, CPA graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2006. Darren spent his college years working in and around small businesses in positions of management and upon graduation he successfully founded, grew, and sold his own small business. Upon joining Burg and Company, he took the lead in the tax department as well as advising small business start ups and is currently involved in all of the aspects of the firm. He is heavily involved in the operations management and advisory of several business clients. Darren grew up and still resides in the West Houston area.

After 20 years in the Spring Branch District of Houston, TX we have moved out to Katy, TX but we service clients as close as next door, and as far as Brazil. Most of our clients are located in the greater Houston area but many also come from the Austin and San Antonio areas while others are scattered across the Country. In today’s world of technology, it has become increasingly easier to service our clients near and far without the need of multiple physical locations. Burg & Company is dedicated to keeping up with the age of technology as it blends with the business and accounting worlds which allows us to work more efficiently.
